The film is charming, there are laughs to be had – a feel good movie, nothing more, nothing less. The movie is an ‘easy-going watch.’

Going in Style has a strong all star Oscar winning cast, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin, there’s also appearances by the charismatic Christopher Loyd, and the beautiful Hollywood veteran Anne-Margret.

Directed by Zach Braff, the actor from TV show ‘Scrubs’. The film is a re imagining of 1979 film of the same name, starring George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg.

The story is about three retired old guys, long time mates, facing a very uncertain future. Their pension has been taken away by the corruption of capitalism, screwed by the bank breathing down there necks, foreclosing on one of their homes. The story takes a twist when they aren’t able to pay the rent and bills.

This inevitable hardship, leads to hatching an audacious bank heist to get back at the ‘bastard’ bank system.

Enjoyable chin wag banter with leading characters, my personal favourite was Alan Arkin, his dry witty humour was at times charming. There is fun to be had, it is all familiar ground, just with a different packaging.
